Infrastructure Services Team Leader - SYN6067

  • Company: This client is part of a worldwide association of independent pharmaceutical companies that have been developing vital new drugs for more than half a century. The success of the company has seen them grow over the past few years, both in numbers and space. Job Purpose: To work within the Infrastructure Services team of the Business Systems Department (BSD) to ensure IT service availability to our Cambridge site and across our European independent associated companies. Responsibilities -Leading a team of system administrators to ensure operational support in a service-led department. -Responsible for gathering requirements, designing and implementing enterprise-wide solutions. -Proactively improve, optimise, converge and develop the infrastructure with future capacity in mind. -Provide directional leadership on technical matters. -Supervise team and demonstrate the appropriate level of `give and take¿ with each individual. -Take on and manage multiple projects and responsibilities. -Promote the use of best practice IT quality processes. Knowledge -Server virtualisation. -Storage area networks (SANs). -Directory services and messaging. -Databases (both Oracle and SQL). -Software virtualisation and Citrix. -Local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), wireless and other network technologies. -Branch office deployments and challenges. -Infrastructure best practice. -Working in a regulated (GxP) environment. Behavioral skills -Consultative approach, comfortable in being an advisor to the Infrastructure Services Manager and IT Director, building confidence and trust through expert knowledge. -Ability to influence the decision-making process, make presentations and recommendations, both verbally and in writing. -Demonstrate Leadership attributes, principally: --people skills --able to create belief in others and help develop them accordingly --challenges poor performance head on --communicates directly and liste
